Ablaq Necklace

Ablaq Necklace

The "Ablaq", meaning piebald in Arabic, is an Arabian horse with black and white stripes or patches, inspiring Cairene architecture during the Mameluke period with buildings made of white and black marble striations. This architectural style would later spread throughout the medieval Mediterranean, namely to Italy where the Mamelukes had strong links with the Venetians and Genoese. Today, this architecture is associated with Florence's buildings.

Using rare, perfectly-shaped, Tahitian drop pearls of the highest grade combined with our individually selected diamonds, the Ablaq Necklace is crafted in 18kt gold* with the expert hands of our workshop in Florence. The Ablaq architectural legacy continues to inspire more than 800 years later with jewelry from the House of Misri, paying homage to The House's Cairene origins and historic links with the Italian peninsula on one hand, as well as Egypt's influence on the world's history, civilization, architecture, and now jewelry on the other.
